Elevator Entrance System Fire Test

The National Building Code regulates that all elevator entrance system designs used in Canada pass a severe fire endurance test.

The test requires that entrances be heated to 1,000° C for 1.5 hours. No flaming may occur on the back side of the door during the first 30 minutes. Thereafter, some intermittent light flames (less than 6 inches long) may occur along the door edges. After 1.5hours, the red-hot entrances are rolled away from the furnace and blasted with a fire hose. Measurements are then taken to ensure that the door has not moved more than 3 inches from the wall.

Delta Elevator’s robust entrance system designs were put to the test at the UL facility in Chicago, IL.

The result? We passed with flying colours, which means you are assured of riding in a safe and Code-compliant elevator.
