Health & Safety Coordinator - Mississauga Office

This position reports to the VP Human Resources and will be responsible for implementing Health & Safety initiatives in the Mississauga and Peterborough offices as part of the company’s ongoing safety program. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of company safety programs with the goal of exceeding regulatory and client requirements.
  • Audit the company safety program at construction and maintenance sites.
  • Attend Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, co-chair and keep minutes.
  • Perform incident investigations, provide corrections and assist implementation.
  • Maintain safety records and documents.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and other relevant H&S regulations.
  • Provide internal safety training.
  • Develop and implement return-to-work and modified-work programs.
  • Work with the H&S Coordinator in the Kitchener office to ensure consistent corporate application of the program.

Minimum candidate requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a Health & Safety related field.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of current safety legislation and WHMIS 2015.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid drivers’ license.

Construction / Modernization Mechanic

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP Operations – GTA.  As a Field Operations Team member, your primary responsibility will be to perform all aspects of elevator installations and modernizations.  Specifically, we are looking for an EDM-A licensed mechanic or a 3+ year EDM-T apprentice registered with the MTCU and OCOT who will complete their apprenticeship within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install new construction and modernizing existing elevators.
  • Read schematics, separate old controllers, and adjust new systems.
  • Unload deliveries, move equipment, and re-assemble machines.
  • Install rails, assemblies, controllers, machines, pumping units and cabs.
  • Run conduit, hoistway trough, and travelling cables and terminations.
  • Test mechanical / electrical equipment using multi-meters.
  • Perform TSSA required testing for initial inspections.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Post-secondary education or experience in electrical / electronics.
  • Knowledge of the A17 B44, B355 and B311 codes
  • Current EDM-A or EDM-T license (with valid registration with MTCU and OCOT).
  • Knowledge of the effective use of construction / hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills and customer friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Elevating Devices Mechanic Apprentice

Delta Elevator is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants to join our growing team of Elevating Devices Mechanic Apprentices in the Kitchener and Mississauga office.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or experience in electrical/electronics
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work in groups and independently
  • Eager to learn and grow with the company
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Capable of heavy lifting
  • Knows how to use construction equipment and hand tools
  • Knowledgeable about building construction practices
  • Experience working at heights and with scaffolding

Successful candidates with sufficient qualifications will be registered with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) as an Elevating Devices Mechanic – Trainee (EDM-T). This is a four-year apprenticeship program leading to a secure and well-paying career.

Supervisor – GTA East Branch

This position reports to the VP Operations GTA & Peterborough and provides leadership to the GTA East branch staff. The position works in conjunction with the GTA West branch Supervisors and Peterborough Branch Manager to ensure the success of each branch development.

The position will service a partial maintenance route until the size of the branch warrants a full time Supervisor role.

The main areas of responsibility include coordinating the work of GTA East branch staff, participating on the Supervisor Team, working with the VP Operations to create a high functioning employee team, maintaining elevators, performing contract repairs, coordinating construction and modernization jobs, and responding to emergency and after-hours call-backs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Licensed EDM-A.
  • Knowledge of A17 B44, B355 and B311 Codes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting PLCs and relay logic controls.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with MS Office software.
  • Excellent safety record.
  • Experience in construction and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with MOL regulations pertaining to construction sites.
  • Bondable.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Organization and detail orientation.
  • Exceptional record keeping skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read various electrical prints (e.g. Armor, Otis, Delta)
  • Ability to teach technical and customer service skills.
