Field Operations Administrative Assistant

This position reports to the VP Operations GTA/PTBO and will provide administrative support to Field Operations for the GTA Branch and Peterborough District working from our Mississauga location.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to GTA Field Operations.
  • Track vehicle maintenance, equipment repairs, gas receipts, and mileage.
  • Track and administer TSSA Inspection reports to ensure items are completed.
  • Process uniform reorders and track amounts owing and allowance used.
  • Purchase, track, receive, and stock parts orders for repairs, maintenance stock and construction requirements.
  • Maintain parts inventory including counting, reordering, and shelf management.
  • Assist with CR purchasing, delivery schedules, subcontracts, submissions and costings.
  • Assist maintenance customers with routine inquiries, find completed time tickets, schedule fire tests, and schedule maintenance if mechanic cannot reach client.
  • Maintain technical files.
  • Co-ordinate mechanic-in-training recordkeeping.
  • Track mechanic vacation time requests and record holidays.
  • Review monthly 407 ETR invoices and manage transponder inventory.
  • Review monthly cell/pager invoices and manage cell/pager inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Administrative experience / education are an asset.
  • Efficient and up to date computer skills with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have or be able to obtain training as a forklift operator within three (3) months.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Superior customer service attitude.
  • Organization and detail orientations with exceptional record keeping skills.
  • Understanding of industrial/construction terminology and systems.
  • Initiative in working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work toward deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sort, lift and shelve packages and parts.

Mod Coordinator

This position reports to the VP Operations GTA/PTBO and involves tasks at various stages of the lifecycle of a modernization service project from pre-sale visits, site verification, project management, and post-completion follow up to training and verifying customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately collect engineering site data and prepare all take-off and scope documents.
  • Receive, date stamp, file and communicate all job correspondence items.
  • Attend scheduling meetings and generate feedback as requested.
  • Monitor and inform task scheduler of any changes in project task plans.
  • Verify site readiness via site visits and through discussions with building representatives.
  • Inform other departments of installation, delivery, or change order issues.
  • Confirm shipment details and scheduling requirements for subcontractors.
  • Issue and manage change orders on approved change notices.
  • Prepare purchasing documents for materials and subcontractors.
  • Monitor work in progress to ensure completion of projects on time and on budget.
  • Provide job flow, progress, and maintenance billing information.
  • Ensure resolution of inspection directives.
  • Collect close out documents, publish certificates of substantial completion.
  • File closed job documents.
  • Assist with modernization sales efforts as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience in technical industrial/construction project management.
  • Education in project management or engineering technician would be an asset.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with exceptional record keeping skills.
  • Strong communication skills and customer friendly attitude.
  • Creativity to identify potential problems and solutions.
  • Ability to work toward deadlines.
  • Ability to read main layout drawings.
  • Valid EDM-T or F registration with TSSA would be an asset.

Construction / Modernization Mechanic

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP Operations – GTA.  As a Field Operations Team member, your primary responsibility will be to perform all aspects of elevator installations and modernizations.  Specifically, we are looking for an EDM-A licensed mechanic or a 3+ year EDM-T apprentice registered with the MTCU and OCOT who will complete their apprenticeship within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install new construction and modernizing existing elevators.
  • Read schematics, separate old controllers, and adjust new systems.
  • Unload deliveries, move equipment, and re-assemble machines.
  • Install rails, assemblies, controllers, machines, pumping units and cabs.
  • Run conduit, hoistway trough, and travelling cables and terminations.
  • Test mechanical / electrical equipment using multi-meters.
  • Perform TSSA required testing for initial inspections.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Post-secondary education or experience in electrical / electronics.
  • Knowledge of the A17 B44, B355 and B311 codes
  • Current EDM-A or EDM-T license (with valid registration with MTCU and OCOT).
  • Knowledge of the effective use of construction / hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills and customer friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Elevating Devices Mechanic Apprentice

Delta Elevator is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants to join our growing team of Elevating Devices Mechanic Apprentices in the Kitchener and Mississauga office.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or experience in electrical/electronics
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work in groups and independently
  • Eager to learn and grow with the company
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Capable of heavy lifting
  • Knows how to use construction equipment and hand tools
  • Knowledgeable about building construction practices
  • Experience working at heights and with scaffolding

Successful candidates with sufficient qualifications will be registered with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) as an Elevating Devices Mechanic – Trainee (EDM-T). This is a four-year apprenticeship program leading to a secure and well-paying career.
