Walter Guderian

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear friend and founder of Delta Elevator, Walter Guderian. Walter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family late in the evening on September 2, 2019 at the age of 83.

Walter was born in Germany in 1936 and came to Canada as a teenager with his family in 1956. He arrived already being an elevator tradesman and after working for 10 years as an elevator mechanic in Canada, he founded Delta Elevator in 1967. Because of Walter's hard work and determination, Delta Elevator remains a family-owned business with deep roots in the community.

Walter was a kind and generous man whose care for people always shone through. As a business owner, his concern for Delta employees and the culture of the company was unparalleled. Walter worked to the very end to ensure that Delta retained that “family” atmosphere. He demonstrated through his daily actions his commitment to Integrity, Service & Quality, Delta's core values from the very beginning.

Walter's family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Koinonia Christian Fellowship, 850 Sawmill Road, Bloomingdale on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
